About The Company

Garrison Marketing was created to help others feel less afraid of technology. When I opened my “virtual” doors in November of 2011 I focused on social media. It wasn’t a scary thing, yet so many businesses were afraid to tackle it.

As time progressed my business shifted from social media to web development, but the focus remained the same – make technology less scary and more user friendly. Not only did I teach people how to use the technology they needed, I also managed it on the back end for them. I became a web developer, social media manager, and technology trainer.

Garrison Marketing SolutionsI found I had a knack for translating tech speak into common everyday terminology my clients understood. I created systems to meet them where they were at and allowed them to use their technology in a way that felt intuitive.

Technology is always changing and growing. Mobile and tablet computing is the next hurdle to tackle and over the years I have found it becoming easier and easier. This has allowed me to create systems to meet my clients where they are.

Technology shouldn’t be frightening, it should be simple and easy to manage. It should work with you, not against you.

That’s my calling. To help you understand this crazy tech world. To take the fear and anger away, and make you feel like your technology just understands you.

Join me here where I’ll give you as many tips, hints and hacks to make your technology life easier. And if you want one-on-one coaching – I can help you with that too! Just contact me here.

So, Who Am I?

Sarah Sunshine GarrisonI was born and raised in the Portland Metro area of Oregon. I’m the oldest daughter of two, and have always been a little geeky when it comes to technology. I built my first computer when I was 17, and ever since have been fascinated (as well as frustrated) with technology.

I’m a wife, mother and grandmother, as well as a dog lover! My husband and I have created a blended family, and between the two of us we have several children and several grandchildren.

Over the course of the years, you may have heard me talk about my Son, my dogs and my grandkids. They are what bring me joy, and drive me to do what I do.

I’m not your typical grandma, as I married into my role, but hey, my grandkids only know me as grandma. And my stepson and daughter-in-law are amazing individuals, whom I have the privilege of calling family.

My son is a blessed little (really not so little) boy and I love watching him grow. My puppies (really they’re full-grown dogs, but they’ll forever be my puppies) are Tasha and Talliya, you might see them from time to time on social media.

Little Known Fact About Sarah…

About two and a half years ago, my husband and I sold everything off and moved into a 30′ RV/Trailer. We spent two years living in 165 sq.ft. model before upgrading to a 5th wheel, which gave us 450 sq.ft. (Which by the way feels like living in a mansion!)

Between my husband, son, our dogs and myself, we had to make major adjustments. We learned to live small and only buy what we needed.

In fact, it’s such an adventure I started a website about it!

Why I Do What I Do

It’s one of the major reasons I’m so passionate about technology.  I had to learn to use my iPad, iPhone, and computer in new and unique ways. Books have become virtual, entertainment is now streaming, and business had to become smaller.

If you see me at a meeting you’ll notice I take hand written notes on an iPad. I love to take handwritten notes, but with the idea of storing paper in a small space, I had to come up with a way to continue to do what I love within the new limitations I had.

Another thing I love to do: paint! But yet again, due to the constraints of my space, painting became a rarity. That is until I found some apps that allowed me to create painting like images. Now I “paint” wherever I go.

This new-found life made technology a must have. No longer could I keep paper ledgers of my banking. No longer did I have room to store all those business cards. No longer was I able to use a giant dry erase board for planning. I had to figure it all out using something smaller.

The change has been liberating for me and I want everyone to be excited about how technology can simplify their life too.

Getting frustrated and angry because the program that was supposed to free you is causing nothing but confusion, isn’t good at all!

It's been quiet for the month of June. Had lots on my plate and I needed to step back from things a little bit.

Today I am back, and to celebrate I gave a presentation at East Portland Chamber of Commerce! The hardest part of today was just as I get back into the swing of things, my boy gets sick.

Why do I tell you this?

I learned that no matter what life throws at you, don't quit. You might have to take a break like I did, but don't quit.
